Project Assistant Susanna Rinne

24/07/2020

Welado’s Project Assistant Susanna Rinne finds joy in helping others through her work. Her goal is to grow into a trusted colleague whom other Welado employees can always turn to. As a new member of Welado, Susanna has been given room to grow and learn, as well as the opportunity to influence the future direction of her own career.

As a Project Assistant, Susanna Rinne is closely involved in invoicing, document management and other support functions for various projects. Her daily work also includes supporting tendering and procurement processes for different railway construction management projects. Susanna, a careful and efficient assistant, has been impressed by Welado’s way of working, which differs from the large office environments she has experienced previously.

“I’ve really enjoyed my work here. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms. In a short time, the people at the Helsinki office have become like a second family to me. I feel that new tasks keep me alert and active. I even told my supervisor recently that every day feels like an adventure of its own,” Susanna says.

In Susanna’s opinion, the support and attitude of supervisors and other management play a crucial role in how easily a new employee can learn and work in a new environment and culture. Susanna says she often describes Welado’s way of working with an analogy: imagine there’s an obstacle ahead that everyone needs to climb over. First, two people help one person up, and then everyone works together to help the rest.

“At Welado, everyone supports each other,” Susanna sums up.

Finding excitement in a varied working day

The workload is managed collectively, and Susanna also receives initiatives and interesting tasks from other supervisors. Tasks are distributed to ensure that everyone’s workload is manageable and no one is left struggling with too much work. What Susanna particularly appreciates at Welado is the mutual respect between colleagues.

“Here, I don’t feel invisible. I know that my contribution is valued and that my opinion matters. If I doubt myself or feel uncertain, my supervisor gives me reassurance, and I realise that I do have the skills after all. My supervisor saw potential in me right from the beginning that I hadn’t yet recognised or even known I had. When I’ve got lots of things going on at once, I absolutely love it!”

Working with people comes naturally to Susanna. To develop her work, she and her supervisor have created a five-year goal and a vision for her own career path at Welado.

“I want to be the person within the company whom others can turn to about anything. Helping others brings me enormous joy. In addition to helping people, I want to focus on project work in my career. What’s important to me is the content of my work and how much I can contribute to others. I’m here for other people.”

Susanna explains that learning a new industry and new responsibilities isn’t always easy, and adapting can take time.

“I’ve been given room to grow and learn about the industry. If we don’t know how to do something, we find out and learn. We jump into the deep end together; nobody has to do anything alone. You shouldn’t be afraid of growth!”
